8.30pm Kick-off - Scotland Visitors to play Scotland New York supporters in the Third Annual Tartan Army NYC International Football Challenge Match. It's one victory each so far in what has been a competitive game for the last two years. Squads for both teams are already full. If you're interested in watching, meet at Lederhosen's (39 Grove Street) at 7.30pm for the piped procession to the field. Post-game festivities will be held at Botanica (47 E. Houston St).

Tartan Day on Ellis Island returns for its seventh year on Sunday, April 6, 2008(10:00 AM to 4:00 PM). The Clan Currie Society again plays host to a day of celebration of all things Scottish. The 2008 program will feature a broad range of outstanding performers who will present Scotland’s “portable culture” – the music, dance, and folk tales that were brought to this country by Scottish immigrants. In addition, Scottish-themed films including “A New Way to a New World” and “The Crafter’s Song” will be screened in the Ellis Island Theater. The Metropolitan Club
The National Trust for Scotland presents an evening will begin with a reception featuring Scottish music and an exclusive whisky tasting, and will be followed by a superb dinner, during which international writing star Alexander McCall Smith will accept the Foundation’s Great Scot Award and give a brief talk. After dinner there will be a short live auction of exciting prizes, including several sojourns in Scotland and a custom portrait by renowned portraitist Johanna Spinks. Scottish music by Maeve Gilchrist, a young musician and composer from Edinburgh, Scotland, may tempt you to take a turn or two on the dance floor. All proceeds will benefit The National Trust for Scotland Foundation USA and its efforts to
support the work of the National Trust for Scotland. |
